Job Description
Extendicare Viking is a 60 bed home, located in the beautiful rural setting of Viking Alberta. The LPN will be responsible for providing exceptional care to our residence, working in collaboration with a team that consists of Health Care Aids, Registered Nurses, Support Services Staff and a Leadership Team.
Reporting to: Director of Care
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Care, the LPN will:
- Ensure resident care is provided within established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders and administrative policies
- Use the Nursing Process of Assessment, Plan, Implement and Evaluate a resident health and develop individualized resident care plans
- Plans, directs, supervises and evaluates the work of the Health Care Aide
- Assists in orientating, mentoring and competency development of staff
- Demonstrates leadership skills
- Graduate of Licensed Practical Nurse Program
- Registered in good standing with CLPNA
- Caring, compassionate, dependable, ethical and mature
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to manage stressful situations.
- Critical thinking skills
- Good time management skills to work in fast paced environment.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Current CPR and First Aide
- Experience with MDS-RAI assessments
